Feed-in Tarrifs Slashed

Share

The government is proposing to slash feed in tarrfif rates by over 50%. This was leaked on friday on the energy saving trust website, and confirmed today. The cuts are to re-align the industry with the plummet in solar panel cost prices. However the cut maybe a little too deep for some, those hopeing to claim some of the free solar panel deals might find they have been cut out of the frame.

It’s not all bad news however, becuase of the increased demand in panels, manufacturers have slashed their price over the last few years, and installers are fitting more so there is room for both manufactures and installers to shave enough margin to still give the customer a very heatly return. In fact before the announment some installers were fitting systems with 17% return instead of the government target of 9%. So lets see how the industry reacts and hopefully returns and saving will still be made for years to come. The government has also stated it will support the industry well in to 2020.
